If you were to WOT shift all the time, can you not see that it would shorten the life of all components involved?

Same thing with starting in 2nd from dead stop. Once in a while will give you a negligible difference in clutch longevity. Do it every time and life decreases.

Same again, if your flywheel develops hot spots from overheating due to excessive clutch burn. If the clutch only chattered once in a while, no prob...but it does it every time you launch the car. Think how many times you will start from a dead stop during the life of the clutch. If you drive in the city, this could be tens of thousands of times.
